Arkhane , June 9th, Written based on this version: In their defense, they've put too much care and effort into this record to be anything less than 'good', but it really walks Now, having said all that and fallen prostrate before Powerwolf, I felt that their last effort, 's Blood of the Saints, was beginning to run low on ideas, and certainly starting to follow its own tracks through the forest a little too closely. Clearly, this guy has a range, so why isn't he using it more? What I am trying to get at here is that the album just doesn't let up. The song Secrets of the Sacristy nighh his skill as he belts out some properly fast singing. All of these songs manage to come in familiar and reasonably short packages while, barring the exception of the groovy and obvious rehash of "We Drink Your Blood" in "Sacred And Wild", managing to not sound like complete retreads of past efforts. This was nice to hear because they didn't fall into the trap of repetitiveness which bands do if they get too comfortable with a certain style.

Studio Fredman, GothenburgSweden. Despite some noticeable reused formulas and rehashed song structures, Preachers of the Night offers an incredibly bombastic and almost operatic experience, with Attila Dorn at the forefront.

Powerwolf is a silly band and was never meant to be taken too seriously. If one song doesn't just blast you with heavy riffing and angry chanting, or empower you with it's marching drum patterns and lyrics about celestial warfare, then you are presented with a foreboding sense of danger similar to watching your enemy's forces mass in front of you.

On 11 JulyNapalm Records released audio samples of all the tracks from the album on their YouTube channel. Just as expected it is full of haunting melodies, choir arrangements, and flawless song writing.

The most auspicious of the pack is a pipe organ preachefs vocal steeped reinterpretation of a Helloween-styled cooker in "Secrets Of The Sacristy", which is rivaled by the slightly more ornamented, less celebratory, but equally fast and furious "Cardinal Sin".

Depending on the depths of the crimson shade their music bestows upon us, that is. Just take it for what it is and I'm sure you can walk away with only a few claw marks and vampire fang bites to show for it. It was released on 19 July It will change your life. I've said it time and time again, but "Amen and Attack" is potentially one of the best songs the band has written yet.

There're no hidden meanings, no layers to peel away to reveal some masterfully crafted depth or fhe, they're a band meant to be taken at face value; a group that revels in the big, the silly, and the juvenile. The accompanying lyrics sometimes are humorous, sometimes there is Latin lyrics and sometimes the lyrics tell of mythical creatures. Preachers of the Nighttheir insanely anticipated fifth full length, is And that's really how I'd describe it to a newcomer: Once the invigorating pomp of "Kreuzfeuer" is nullified by the repetition of "In the Name of God" and "Lust for Blood" it appears the band's appeal previously lay in being power metal without sounding it; unfortunately "Preachers of the Night" has the malaise of resting too much on it's laurels without a desire to expand any horizons.

I'll admit with some apprehension that I'm kind of a fan of Powerwolf, though it's no mystery to the seasoned veteran of these German dogs that the group's albums are often absurdly fun and hilariously overblown, not to be taken seriously. Each and every song is entertaining and gripping. Again, nothing new, but it rules. Musically, it's got all the fluff one would expect and hope for Truth be spoken, they are really ppowerwolf balanced in the overall sound wall like everything elsebeing audible but not obnoxious.

The drums are done very well, even if they are robotic. Nothing super unbelievable but very good nonetheless and I powwerwolf forward to future releases.

Granted, as a band with a sort of image-based, semi-Gothic niche steeped in cinematic stereotypes, their evolution could be likened to a sort of slow crawl comparable to a predetermined template via intelligent design. Unfortunately, a lot of this album feels like that, just simple filler, playing it safe and not challenging themselves in the slightest.

Notorious for grinding up the remnants of their past releases and repackaging the same stylistic themes in new products, Powerwolf has never had a problem doing the exact same thing, and up until now doing so has worked quite well.

The band's fifth album is mostly tired, unmemorable, and a faceless regurgitation of the same songwriting techniques and traits they've been rehashing for a decade at this point. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed.

Penning the kind of lyrics Powerwolf specialise in to compliment this massive asset makes natural sense; preacjers vampiric and religious tomes sound relevant yet fantastical, much more so than they do so for the equally conceptual Ghost and their weaker vocalist, Papa Emeritus. Oh yeah, I should mention every Powerwolf song ever includes a ridiculous chorus, a fast power metal riff or similar guitar notations preacers are more traditionally inclined, keyboards, choirs, and an atmosphere that intentionally appears comically evil.
